And second seed in the tournament, Serena Williams got a ticket to attend the final of Tennis Australia, where he defeated Russian fourth seed Elena Dementieva in straight sets 6-3, 6-4 in the first semifinal this morning. The victory broke the invincibility Dementieva and avenged the loss to Williams Dementieva in the semifinals of the Olympic Games in Beijing and the Medibank International.
If Roger Federer is on the history by winning his 14th Grand Slam title, Williams is in its tenth and a piece of tennis history as she joined a club of elite tennis players of women who have won 10 titles or more of the Grand Slam. And it is certainly a club that is determined to be a member.
When I looked at the draw a week ago, I really felt that Serena Williams was the player I expected to win. Maria Sharapova withdrew gave him a clear path to win the crown. Perhaps the only person who can beat is the older sister Venus, but because of his erratic performances staged before, and the Australian Open, I had my doubts if he could have made it to the quarter-finals at least. His early exit from the staging of this season has given me reason. Jelena Jankovic may have been sown before him, but Jankovic has not yet received a game that can win up to Serena and Venus in high office, a tennis match final. Dementieva can beat it before, but Williams was not helped by making more mistakes Dementieva to produce more winners.
Williams should thank their lucky stars that when he played the semi-final against Russian Svetlana Kuznetsova, was obviously very affected by hot weather conditions. I think he deliberately lost the first set of this match so that the organizers can close the roof. He provided a respite from the heat for 15 minutes and an opportunity to find points of reference to both players returned to their barracks. However, it became clear that among them, Kuznetsova was very well against the closure of the cover. I knew I could cope better with the conditions and closing the roof can give your opponent the opportunity to return to the party, which came to an end. Thus, Williams has survived another day.
In Dinara Safina, Vera Zvonareva is controlled in the second semi-final with 6-3, 7-6 tennis scored, Williams will face a formidable opponent in the finals of tennis in Australia. If Serena beat her in the past, I expect the meeting of the Australian Open tennis final to be closer and closer to the game. Safina has improved so much. Just when his career seemed to be heading nowhere, she suddenly found this incredible transformation in his game which saw his barge in the last match of the French Open for the first time in his career. Probably the next step for her is to win a major title, and what better tournament to win the Australian Open crown as its big brother Marat Safin last won.It be an additional feather in the CAP siblings if Safina wins his own crown and be the first brother and sister champions in this tournament.
The women's singles final match, not just the title on the line, but also the added bonus to take over first place in women's tennis this year is in question. And, with Safina and Williams aspiring to be candidates for this event, the winner of a queen of tennis worthy.
