Baseball is a team sport where the ball is thrown down a defender, called the pitcher, the batter called a striker, who is in a place called home plate and try to hit the ball with the bat. Score is obtained by the batter running and touching the four points (bases), on the ground have been added by the player without the ball.
Baseball is played between teams of nine players, usually under the supervision of a referee. With four bases, the baseball field is a square called the Diamond. The game is played in nine innings, in which each team gets a turn at bat and score runs, while the other pitches and defends. The team with the most points at the end of the game wins.
American baseball is unique because of many factors. First of all, is not a fixed time interval. The team can not win without getting the last batter, and the protests do not affect time. Although one team sports, individual and puts players under pressure. The game requires skill and athleticism as well as strategy and planning.
Baseball is supposed to have evolved from playing cricket, rounders and town ball. The rules of baseball is said to have evolved from "Knickerbocker Rules" established by Alexander Cartwright in 1845. Professional baseball began in the United States in 1865 and the National League was formed shortly after the production of large players. A World Series was played with an American League in 1903.
Baseball continued to grow and became a favorite of all races. In the nineteenth century, Irish and German players shone, followed by Native Americans in the 1900s. The Italians and Poles grew in the years 1920 and 1930. Black joins from the 1940 and Hispanics emerged in the 1990s. Over the past two decades, managing player strikes caused a decline in interest in baseball, but interest was rekindled after the individual time trial of excellence in the field.
Professional baseball leagues were formed in countries other than the United States, Holland, Japan, Australia, Venezuela, Italy, Korea, Taiwan and China, and most European countries. Competition between national teams were supervised by the International Baseball Federation, formed in 1938, which had 112 members in 1994.
Professional leagues are organized in different levels and with different rules. Youth League is the Little League Baseball Dizzy Dean, American Legion Baseball, and the USSSA Baseball has Babe Ruth League. Trophies from high school in the United States manages the National Federation of State High School Associations. At the university level is a NCCA, and the College World Series.
In international competition, the coveted trophies Baseball World Baseball Classic and World Cup, which is coordinated by the International Baseball Federation. There's also the trophy for the Olympic baseball in some Olympics. There are semi-professional baseball baseball called independent.
